Amazon Debuts New Virtual Networking Capability

Amazon AWS released new functionality today that supports “full control of network topology including subnets and routing”. The new features are accessible via the web console, command-line tools, and the API. The feature set does not have additional cost associated with it.

Several Amazon partners have been working to incorporate the new feature set into their ecosystem enabled products including OpenVPN, Riverbed, and CloudSwitch.

The new functionality should address some concerns about the public cloud being able to host more complex networking scenarios.
